WW Sac: ReCap!! Part Two

Posted On Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Day one of Wizard World Sac was a definite blast, but the weekend was JUST getting started!  I had to be up BRIGHT AND EARLY, with a slated news spot on the local channel, ABC 10.  A BIG shout out to Jerry Milani who heads the PR dept. for Wizard for linking that up.  You can check out the coverage here!

On the latest episode of the Hall of Justice Podcast, I revealed that I wasn't a fan of the DCEU release of Wonder Woman.  Without COMPLETELY recapping all that I gripped about on the show (listen here), I had QUITE a few issues with the storytelling and plot.  With that being said, though, there was no way I was going to turn down a chance to review the film for another podcast, hosted by my good friend Tony Kim, and also featuring the talented minds of Genese Davis (noted panelist and author of The Holder's Dominion), Ivy Doom Kitty (celebrity cosplayer), and Trina Robbins (the FIRST female penciler for the Wonder Woman comics, and second Wizard World Hall of Legends Inductee!!!).

Admittedly, I was the HEEL (a wrestling term, for "the bad guy", to those uninitiated), but it was beautiful to hear these talented creatives express how much the movie meant to them.  You don't have to be a fan of the thing to see the greatness of that!  I got in a few shots that were co-signed (like was Steve's near nude reveal necessary?!), which definitely made me feel a bit more at ease about my criticisms.  Geek news outlet, Bleeding Cool, did some cool coverage on it, highlighting each of our various perspectives.  Hit up crazy4comiccon.com for the audio!

Next, I took to the stage, hosting moderator duties for one of the stars from Guardians of the Galaxy and Gilmore Girls -- SEAN GUNN!!  He was absolute cool from the word go, managing to EXPERTLY avoid any details of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War epic, set to drop next May.  But with all his expertise, he didn't heed my warning not to say Michael Rooker's name 3 times, or else he might appear!  And sure enough...this happened...

After a brief break, I was back on stage with one of the most glamorously SMART and hilariously DIRTY guests of my career.  Kate Beckinsale -- yes, THE Kate Beckinsale, brought her delightful charms to her fans in Sacramento, and I had the best seat in the house!  She is unstoppable -- truly a force of nature and we talked about everything from her celebrating unconventional family structures, to her apparent fascination with vampires (hunting them and being one), to which of her on-screen co-stars is the BEST kisser...better have telepathy to answer that one!

She was so magnificent, that her presence (and fashion) scored a nod on the DailyMail.co.uk, even name dropping yours truly, along with her.  Here's hoping that our paths cross again at Wizard World Columbus, where's already slated as a featured guest.

And look for the final piece soon!
